Library Lovers Month Mailbox and Postcards
In honor of Library Lovers Month, we have a special mailbox where you can fill out a postcard telling us why you love libraries. We then collect the postcards and send them to county officials to show them the value of public libraries in our community. If you can't make it to the library, you can share your love via social media using the hashtags, #ILOVEMYLIBRARY and #MADLOVEFORLIBRARIES. Share your love today!
Famous Couples in Literature Contest
To celebrate our love for the classics, we have a fun "Famous Couples in Literature" contest going on. All you have to do is match the couples with what classic novel they are in. We will then select one random winner out of those who get the answers correct and that person will receive a special prize. Can you get all the answers right? Come give it a try! Contest ends February 28th.
Year of the Dog Silk Art Piece
Each February we also love to commemorate the Chinese New Year. We have a very special display for it this year, a collection of art pieces that are hand stitched silk-on-silk. This type of embroidery art can take up 2 years to finish and has been a tradition for over 2,000 years! As you can see on the image to the right, the fur on the dog looks life-like, but in fact, it is made of a million hand stitches using a fiber of a thread. Photos do not do this art justice. We highly recommend you come see them for yourselves!
To celebrate Black History Month, we have an "I have a dream..." display in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Customers of all ages can write out what their dreams are and post them on our "Dream Wall". One of our customers wrote, 'I have a dream... for people to treat other people they way they want to be treated."
