| Staff Rocking 2018 Summer Read and Learn T-Shirts |
We can't believe it's June already! We send a huge congratulations out to the graduating class of 2018. Summer has sneaked up on us, which means it's almost time to register for our 2018 Summer Read and Learn program, which begins June 9. This year's theme is Libraries Rock. This program is available to children, tweens, and teens. Log your books and learning activities online or on your printed game board to earn cool badges and prizes (while supplies last). Earn raffle entries as you move forward through the different challenges. Sign up starting June 9 online through Beanstack or at any Montgomery County Public Library branch. If you're interested in having one of our nifty Summer Reading t-shirts, you can purchase one at one of our Friends of the Library bookstores.
To help get you into the summer spirit, we have many wonderful and unique programs offered for various ages. This June is jam-packed with fun events.
Starting June 5, our new Chess Club will meet every first and third Tuesday of the month at 6:00 PM. Come by to play a game or get a lesson from the volunteer leading the program. Walk in to join.

| Beautiful Henna Hands |
We are hosting a very special program, Henna Hands, on June 14 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. This program is led by Kensington Park Library's very own staff member, Nishat. Experience the artistry of henna designs on your hands. Bring a friend to decorate each other or get a wonderful design by the very talented Nishat. This event is free, but registration is required!

There will be a fun event for preschool and kindergarten children, Pajama Storytime! This program will take place on June 18 from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Pop into this free storytime wearing your favorite pair of pajamas. No registration needed.
Our storytimes are 25-30 minute programs designed to delight children aged 18 months to 5 years old accompanied by an adult or caregiver. These programs are filled with diverse stories and activities that promote and develop language skills and imagination. Our year-round family storytimes take place every Wednesday at 10:30 AM and 11:15 AM.
Do you love science? Are you curious about where electricity comes from? On June 19 from 1:00 to 2:30 PM, you can learn all about electricity and why it's important not to waste it. Energy Express is a free program geared towards elementary aged children but all ages are welcome! No registration is necessary but do come early because space is limited to 30 guests.

Abracadabra Alex is coming to Kensington on June 21 from 2:00 PM to 3:45 PM to entertain children of all ages with a mesmerizing, funny, and interactive magic show. This is an exciting program for the whole family! Who doesn't love magic? No registration is required for this free event.
We have a hands-on program for everyone on June 23 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM where you finger-knit your own ladder necklace. You will get totally wrapped up in it because it is so much fun to do. No experience necessary. This event is free, but registration is necessary. Sign up today.

It's movie night! On June 25 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM we are playing Despicable Me 3 (rated PG). This is a funny, animated movie for all ages. All you have to do is show up, bring your family and friends, relax, and enjoy the film!
Believe it or not, that's not the end of our June summer kick-off events. The Villages of Kensington will be hosting an educational event geared towards seniors and adults on June 29 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Participants will learn about Greater Kensington's own "Village," part of a national movement of neighbors helping each other to provide community-based support for individuals who want to age at home. No registration is required.

Many of our wonderful programs are made possible because they are funded by the Friends of the Library, Montgomery County and the Kensington Park Friends Chapter.
