It has been a rocking summer at Kensington Park Library! We have had so many summer reading finishers, it's amazing! Some of our finishers have told us that what they like best about the library includes the diversity of books we have and the summer reading prizes.
Kids ages birth to 12 finish the program by reading nine books and/or completing nine activities. They can reach the bonus round by reading 12 books and/or completing 12 activities. Kids who complete the bonus round get a medal (while supplies last). We've had a lot of medalists at Kensington Park Library. Teens (ages 13-17) can also participate and earn prizes as well. One parent told us her child was so excited to earn a medal that she wore it around all day long saying "I got a medal!"
Haven't gotten in on the fun yet? You can sign up online or at any MCPL branch. Already signed up? Keep up the excellent work! Summer Read and Learn 2018 ends September 9, so be sure to finish the program and collect all earned prizes by that date. Finish the program and get an invitation to our Kensington Park Library Finisher's Party, sponsored by our Friends of the Library, Kensington Park. The Summer Read and Learn program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library Montgomery County.

| Read 500 Books! |
Parents of children participating in 1000 Books Before Kindergarten (an ongoing program) have been logging books read, songs sung, fingerplays done, and other learning moments. There is a sticker earned for every 100 moments completed and prizes (while supplies last) at the 500 and 1,000 moment milestones. Every storytime you attend earns you points as well! If you haven't signed your child up yet, you can do so today!

It has been an amazing July full of engaging events for all ages. Just wait to see what we've got coming up. Here are some highlights.
This Saturday, August 4, we have two (yes two!) programs. Enjoy the amazing music and comedy of Groovy Nate at 11:00 AM. (Sponsored by the Friends of the Library Montgomery County). That program will be followed at 2:00 PM by an encounter with live animals from Scales and Tales. (Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Kensington Park). Please note, seating for Scales and Tales is limited to the first 100 customers.
Feeling artistic? Come and design your very own pet rock (while supplies last) to take home on Thursday, August 9 at 10:30 AM or 2:00 PM. (Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Kensington Park). Adults can travel with us on a virtual reality adventure using Google Expeditions on Tuesday, August 14 at 2:00 PM. All ages can keep cool watching Boss Baby at our movie night, Monday, August 27 at 6:30 PM.

Looking for a good book to take with your on vacation? Ask our librarians for help locating the right book for you! We have a fabulous selection of books and CD books for all ages. Be sure to have a look at our timely book displays with staff recommendations when you are at the branch.
